As accountants, we’re great at a lot of things. However, one skill set we’re often not taught is how to communicate with clients effectively.

Effective client communication is essential to running a successful firm. Our recent article  breaks down what you need to know to effectively communicate with your clients using what we call the 5 Ws of communication.

Introducing the 5 W's of Effective Client Communication

First, we introduce the five W's and show you clear examples of how to communicate with your clients. While you’ll need to check out our article to get the full details, I will mention the 5 W's:

  1. Who
  2. What
  3. When
  4. Where
  5. Why

Who are you communicating with? What is the purpose of communication? When do you need them to take action? Where should this action take place? Why do they need to complete this action?
